CHARACTER BUILDERS: Each week, we learn a part of good moral character, have a story from the Bible to  emphasize it and learn to  make it part of our lives.  We will look at these traits this summer:

ATTENTIVENESS-Listening With My Ears, My Eyes, and My Heart

DILIGENCE – Working Hard To Complete A Task

SELF-CONTROL-      Doing Something Even When I Don’t Feel Like It

OBEDIENCE - Doing what I am told to do with a happy spirit.

WE’RE LEARNING!

Each day in our classes we review numbers, shapes, and colors; learn letters and their sounds, spell and/or write our names, make comparisons in size, discuss sequence of events, etc.

We use our small muscles as we paint, trace, cut or color. We play games and

have a time for large-muscle play in the gym or on the playground outside.  We have fun!

Our program is planned by Mrs. Kay Brooks using a different theme each week with activities which we hope challenge each child at his/her level of development.

SHOW AND TELL Information for new parents…..Each week, on the children’s first attendance day, they can bring in one item for our “Show and Tell”.  This gives them time to share verbally with others something that is special to them.

NEW TO PRESCHOOL       Going to a new school, meeting new friends, and adjusting to new schedules can be unsettling to a small child.  We encourage you to be patient, give a quick hug, assure them you’ll be back & have them wave good-bye from the steps by the front window. This seems to help!

WHAT NOT TO WEAR?  Please dress your children so they are comfortable, with durable, washable clothing. We do request that children do not wear “flip-flops” or open back sandals. Many children have tripped, stumbled, or run out of their shoes on the carpet, gym, or on the playground.   To prevent these “accidents waiting to happen”, we request that sandals with straps that confine the heel be worn.  Thanks for your help.          Also, please be sure your children have “extra” clothes in the cubbies for spills and such.

LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER!

Summer hopefully will bring warm temperatures.  We will plan on having special “WATER DAYS” and the children can plan to spend time with their classmates getting “WET”.  We have a new sprinkler and “Slip and Slides” that should help everyone cool off.  Perhaps we can “picnic” in our own side yard at this time as well.  Special notes will be sent home for these days as we look at the weather forecast.

SIBLING RIVALRY

The Get-Along Game… To Curb Sibling Rivalry - (This is an idea gleaned from an article from Christian Parenting Today)

In an effort to keep our two children from fighting, we play a game using two plastic cups. On one cup, I place a smiley sun sticker and on the other cup, a crabby face sticker. Each cup contains 20 popsicle sticks. Every time one of the kids does something nice, he gets to move a stick from the crabby cup into the "sunny" cup. If they fight or behave badly, we move a stick to the "crabby" cup. When all the sticks are in the sunny cup, the kids are rewarded by taking them to the movies, or out for ice cream or to the playground. J  If all the sticks end up in the crabby cup, they are responsible for an additional chore around  the house.

WE CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS!  PLEASE ASK YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER FOR DETAILS.
